Policies at Piano Studio
Thank you for choosing to sign up with our Educational Platform.
These are our Terms of Use (Agreement) which set out the terms by which paying subscribers (Students) can use our Educational Platform, and other services we may provide to Students (collectively, Service). Please read this Agreement carefully before using the Service. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
By accessing or using the Service (irrespective of whether you paid for it or not), you agree that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.
Please note that this Agreement is maintained on our website Levart.studio. We can change the terms of this Agreement by putting the new terms or material on our website, so you should review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree to any of these terms or any future terms, do not use or access (or continue to access) the Service.
USE OF SERVICE
Payment:
- Students will pay the recurring subscription fees and other fees as per the terms set out below (Fees)
- All Fees are due when the order for Service is placed.
- The quantum of the Fees will be determined by the subscription plan you order for Service.
Access, Modifications to the Service:
- Students acknowledge that payment of Fees is authorisation to us to begin providing Service.
- We do not provide you with the equipment to use the Service. You are responsible for all fees charged by third parties to access and use the Service (e.g. charges by mobile carriers).
- We reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, all or a part of the Service without notice. We will not be liable to you or to any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the Service.
Refunds:
- All Fees are non-refundable, even if you do not use the Service after you have paid for it.
- Fees are to be paid by a Debit or Credit Card via Stripe or PayPal payments and Students authorise us to set up an automated recurring billing process. If Students desire to terminate the Service, such notice must be delivered to us in writing via email at 10 days before the next recurring billing is processed.
Your responsibility for your account: You are solely responsible for the activity that occurs within your account with us. We will not be liable for your losses caused by any unauthorised use of your account, and you shall be solely liable for the losses due to such unauthorised use.
Your interaction with other Students: You will be joined into groups together with other Students and you will be able to send messages to other Students. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other Students. We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor disputes between you and other Students. We will have no liability for your interactions with other Students, or for any Students’ action or inaction.
TEACHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
The teacher’s pledge: to teach the discipline, language, and joy of making music at the piano. The teacher will provide a safe, supportive, positive learning environment. The curriculum will be tailored to support each student’s individual learning and musical needs.
In order to provide the most effective teaching possible, the following policies have been established below.
PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS:
DAILY PRACTICE is expected and required for progress. Parents should help their child include piano practice in their daily routine, and will receive guidance on how to support their child’s practice at home.
Students must have an instrument at home to practice on. An acoustic piano is necessary for proper technical and musical development.
Parents and students are strongly encouraged to communicate via text/email during the week regarding questions over assignments or practice, issues at home, etc.
TERMINATION OF LESSONS:
It is expected that students will commit to lessons for the entire year, however, if Students desire to terminate the Service, such notice must be delivered to us in writing via email at 10 days before the next recurring billing is processed.
Regrettably, the teacher will have to dismiss a student if any of the circumstances occur: unpaid tuition, an excessive number of absences, uncooperative attitude, or if the student demonstrates the inability to practice consistently and/or continually shows up to lessons unprepared.
ATTENDANCE & MISSED LESSON POLICY:
All lessons will be paid for, regardless of attendance. No make-up lessons, refunds, or discounts are provided for missed lessons/time. The tuition paid reserves an exclusive weekly time for the student. The teacher cannot resell that time nor can the teacher create extra teaching time in which to give lessons. You are therefore requested to choose a lesson day/time which works consistently with you/your child’s schedule.
Any lesson that the teacher has to cancel will be made up. Make-up lessons will be held in-person or online.
Students who are ill should not come to lessons. The teacher reserves the right to send a student home if they arrive ill and/or are contagious to others.
If the student is ill/not feeling well for any reason, that student should not attend the lesson in person—the lesson will take place online that day. A sibling will not be allowed to take that student’s place for the in-person lesson.
Missed lesson time may be made up in other ways beneficial to the student:
Online lesson via Zoom, Google Meet, Skype, Teams: if a student is ill/contagious but feels well enough to play, or if inclement weather prevents students from traveling, this is a viable alternative to a missed lesson.
Studio class: held periodically throughout the school year and may serve as a lesson alternative.
Lesson Swap: in the occasion of an anticipated missed lesson, students may choose to swap lesson times with another student. The lesson must take place during the same week (not a different week). The teacher must be informed via email/text PRIOR TO and AFTER arranging a swap. Should 2 people arrive at once, the student whose lesson is normally at that time receives the lesson. No make-up lessons are given if any confusion arises from a swap.
Parent/Teacher conference: a parent may use the lesson time to call and discuss their child’s progress.
STUDIO RULES:
To maintain a clean teaching and learning environment for all, students are requested to remove their shoes upon entering the house. Students should arrive with clean hands and short fingernails.
For IN-PERSON lessons, please honour the following studio rules:
Students should remove their shoes once they enter, and leave shoes in front hallway.
Students must wash hands thoroughly (soap and water) upon arrival.
For legal and safety reasons, parents must drop off and pick up their child(ren) within 5 minutes of the lesson start and end times.
Attendance is expected at periodic “studio classes”—these are group classes that provide informal opportunities for students to perform for, and interact/socialize with, their peers. Tuition includes studio classes for the entire academic year.
ONLINE lessons, if they occur, will take place via Zoom or other online meeting platform. Students should have their camera/device set up prior to the start of their scheduled lesson time.
Numerous performance opportunities (adjudicated and non-adjudicated) are available to all students, including the annual studio recitals.
